During World War 2 Poland was occupied by Soviet ground forces and subsequently became a satellite state. These bags and the 'Rain' pattern are a by-product of the Warsaw Pact countries. The bag was designed to transport the Polish MUA gas mask or similarly the Russian ShM-41.
These bags are a pretty straight forward design - equipped with a adjustable shoulder strap, one main compartment and a external side pouch. The main compartment has 3 partitions, the largest for a gas mask itself and the other for its hose and filter. The smallest partition is more of a sleeve appropriate for a map or diary. This main compartment has a large flap to cover it and it is secured with a simple roller strap. There is also a small external side pouch which can be opened with a single button system and contains a waist strap. You can roll this out and with a hook and clip mounting, secure it on a D-ring to wear around your waist. If your after a small every day carry bag, hunting or doing a cold war airsoft loadout, pick up a bit of genuine Polish surplus today!
