Oman adopted their current flag in 1995. Red is a common colour in the Gulf states, the white strip historically represents peace and usually the Imam. The green is said to stand for the 'Green Mountains' which are based in the north of Oman. The national emblem is in the top left corner and dates back to the 18th century.
The flag has a white strip on the side with two metal eyelets.
