An Austrian Army rain jacket with a waterproof and breathable membrane. Some are Gore-Tex® and some are the European equivalent, Sympatex®. Both are high performing fabrics used in wet weather gear. This raincoat features a similar cut to the US M65 with four pockets on the front and a zipped-in hood. Dated around the mid-late 1990's.
Built using a two-layer waterproof membrane with a polyester shell and polyamide lining. This four layer construction provides excellent protection and comfort. Drawstrings around the waist and collar can be tightened to improve the fit and maximise protection from the elements. For storage, the jacket provides four pockets on the front with snap dome closures. Another two zipped pockets are located in the lining. The left sleeve features an "Osterreich Bundesheer" eagle patch. This jacket has a solid military build to handle your rainy outdoor pursuits.

I purchased this jacket as my much more expensive Arc'teryx Alpha SV jackets seam tape is failing after many years use and I needed a substantial rain hacket to replace it. I cannot fault this jacket!
A bargain at $119 and the one I received looks like new! Mine is a LOT smarter and nicer looking than the website pictures would indicate.
It performed well when I tested it after first spraying with grangers waterproofing. The jacket is quite stylish and very well made like most Austrian gear. It looks smart enough to wear to the office or as casual gear, while still being tough enough to take hiking.
The jacket has snap studs and a zip and a tuck away hood, and has great storage as with 4 large snap stud closed outer pockets and 2 internal zip close pockets. I find this jacket does not stand out like many goretex rain jackets do coming in very bright blues, greens, red, yellow etc and I like the practical styling of the Austrian military clothing.
The jacket is lined other than just inside the cuffs and has a covering over the membrane which should make it very durable. This should protect the waterproof membrane from the wear and tear and UV damage which I have found with multiple expensive goretex jackets I have purchased over the years. It also makes the jacket very comfortable and warm, while still being less clammy feeling than some of my other goretex rain jackets.
It is quite heavy for a rain jacket, but still feels much lighter than my polycotton Austrian M03 Field Jacket, while having a similar appearance and styling.
It is also much more versatile in that being lined it can serve as an every day jacket in colder months or rainy days rather than just a rain jacket, so I purchased this in lieu of a Patagonia Torrentshell.
All in all, this is a FANTASTIC piece of kit. I wish I'd purchased one years ago. A lot of jacket for a small price and well worth the investment. Get one while you can! I missed out last time and they never seem to last long.
Just received this jacket and am loving it! It's in excellent condition (barely any signs of wear) and is well designed. The finish is very high quality and all zips and studs are in perfect working order. I won't know how water resistant the outer fabric is until I wear it in the rain, but will give it a Goretex wash and revival treatment if needed. I can highly recommend this jacket.
I bought one of these for my daughter going on a tramp, it's fantastic. I gave it a wash with an in-wash water-proofing thing just to make sure it was still up to scratch. No holes or anything that needs patching and it's nice and warm for her as well as being able to take a drenching.
I'm going duck shooting this weekend and have just ordered one for me.
