Australia entered the Vietnam war with a large selection of commonwealth and US gear and began modernizing its own load bearing equipment. These field packs were designed to carry many of the supplies you would need out on patrol such as clothing, food and sleepwear. 

With combat in mind, the shoulder straps have pull tabs at the front. The moment you get contact with the enemy you can pull on these and the pack will glide off your back, freeing you to fight on with just your essential web gear. Needless to say each strap is adjustable in length and has a decent amount of padding. The pack has a large main compartment that can be accessed by undoing two straps and lifting the flap. On each side of this is a small pouch with pull tabs that can fit small objects such as torches, spare socks or food. The bottom of the pack has a large open area that can be closed with a flap and three straps. When secured it leaves a bit of room for the contents to breath - ideal for sleeping bags, ponchos, jackets and the likes when in the jungle. The back has a hard insert to maintain shape and padded strips for back support and ventilation. To top it off, each pack has various amounts of ALICE strips on its surface for attaching additional pouches.

These packs have seen some wars and are ready for more! A great pack for hitting the jungle and keeping lean and mean when you need to. Perfect for hunters or any bushwhacking hiking.
