The Germans were ahead of the curb for delivering widespread camouflage to its soldiers during World War 2. The Splinter pattern (Splittertarnmuster) was first designed in 1931 and initially made for zeltbahns which were makeshift tarp shelters & ponchos. Later on the Germans would utilize the pattern for helmet covers & smocks among other things.
Very generously sized these reproduction smocks are designed to be worn over a full field uniform for additional camouflage. Chest flaps allow access to pockets of garments worn underneath. You can wear these stand alone for Summer use as the fabric is very lightweight, just be aware that they will be extremely baggy. You can draw in the waist with a simple cord you can tie in the middle. The smock stays well ventilated with completely open armpit holes and a low-lying placket that can be opened up wide. The cuffs can be cinched in for stand alone use or buttoned open wide for use over great coats.
An essential bit of clothing for anyone doing a WW2 German impression whether it be for reenactments, airsoft players or period film productions.
