These combat trousers made their way into The National People's Army of East Germany for over 30 years. Starting in 1968, they were manufactured and issued up until 1990. The Rain Camo pattern (Strichmuster) was influenced by WW2 German designs such as Splittermuster and Sumpftarn. "Rain" refers to the camouflage pattern, these are not waterproof trousers.
Issued to the NVA (Nationale Volksarmee) as 'summer' trousers, though the fabric remains moderately heavy weight. The name is used to differentiate these from the winter trousers which may have been insulated. These trousers feature two slash pockets and cargo pockets, all with button closures to secure in any contents. Around the inside of the partially elasticated waist are metal D-rings which can be used to attach suspenders. Two pebbled buttons around either ankle allow the cuffs to be adjusted. A nice piece for a collector of Cold War era gear.

Im pleased with the pants. Even though I purchased 1 size too big but it still fits comfortably loose with suspenders for good freedom of movement. The D rings do work with cheap modern clamp suspenders and the fabric is very comfortable. Although I will note there was some rust present on the D rings and that the pants did have a strange smell although it became less strong after being washed. Overall im pleased with these originals and am excited to use them in complete East German uniform.
They are supposed to be worn with suspenders but since I didn't own any, I did some tailoring to the pants to make them fit better. Very comfortable, I liked wearing them so much that I bought a second pair.
Very comfortable and sturdy, may not fit the best but a cheap pair of suspenders fixes that. Great price too
I received a brand new pair in a very late style.
Thank you they are great, and I hope to buy an older pair from you again soon.
You don't always send exactly what I'm looking for,but something great arrives each time.
